Boardman Swears In New Council

The city of Boardman held a swearing-in ceremony during their city council meeting Tuesday night for one newly-elected councilor and two re-elected incumbents.

Councilor Roy Drago Jr. was elected in November and Councilors Brandon Hammond and Brenda Profitt were re-elected to their seats. All three will serve a term ending Dec. 31, 2022. Hammond was elected to serve as council president for 2019.

The council also voted to re-appoint Bill Ellis and Sonja Neal to the budget committee with terms ending Dec. 31, 2021 and appoint Delbert Turner to a vacancy on the budget committee with a term ending Dec. 31, 2019. Also re-appointed are Adam Cole and Cynthia Navarro to the planning commission with terms ending Dec. 31, 2021. The council appointed Michelle Seeley to a vacancy on the planning commission with a term ending Dec. 31, 2019.

In other city business, councilors scheduled a workshop session to discuss a Buildable Lands Inventory project. They will meet in a workshop session on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 5:30 p.m. The council also heard from local farmer Dan McCarty requesting permission to allow goose hunting on his agricultural fields located within city limits. The council requested staff prepare a report with more information to be brought before the council for a decision.

The next regularly-scheduled meeting of the Boardman City Council will be Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m., at Boardman City Hall.
