The city of Echo is collecting food, toys and cash for its Food Basket program.

The public is encouraged to donate canned and packaged food. Donations should be made by Dec. 17. Cash donations provide funds for perishables, children’s gifts and other food items. The Echo Community Church, Echo schools and Kiwanis Food Pantry are working with the city to organize the program again this year.

Families in need of baskets should come by Echo City Hall and fill out an application. Anyone who knows of a family in Echo that is in need can fill out an application on their behalf.

One basket will be given out per family/per address. Names and applications should be turned into City Hall by Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Baskets can be picked up at the Masonic Lodge on Wednesday, Dec. 18 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. If you need the basket delivered, indicate it on the application. Deliveries will be made Thursday morning, Dec. 19. Children’s gifts from the Giving Tree will be available for Wednesday pickup or distributed with food on Thursday.

Donations can be dropped by City Hall or mailed to Echo Food Basket Program, P.O. Box 9, Echo, Ore., 97826. For more information, call 541-376-8411.
