Hearing Thursday for Amazon Data Center Complex

Vadata, which operates Amazon’s data center complexes at Umatilla and Boardman, has asked the Umatilla County Planning Commission for a rezone of about 120 acres of Exclusive Farm Use zoned land to Light Industrial with a Limited Use Overlay. The property is in the Westland area southwest of Hermiston, near the Hermiston Generating Plant.

The applicant’s request includes the following land use actions: 1) Amendment of the Comprehensive Plan Text and approval of an exception to Statewide Planning Goals 3 (Agriculture) and 14 (Urbanization); 2) Amendment of the County Comprehensive Plan Map from North-South Agriculture to Industrial; and 3) Amendment of the County Zoning Map from Exclusive Farm Use to Light Industrial with a Limited Use Overlay.

A hearing is scheduled Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. at the Justice Center Media Room, 4700 NW Pioneer Place, Pendleton.

Vadata operates Amazon data center complexes at the ports of Morrow and Umatilla.
