Hermiston's Allan Staley Passes Away at 76

Allan R. Staley died on June 29, 2015 at his home in Hermiston at the age of 76.

He was born on July 5, 1938 in Detroit, Mich., to Robert and Doris Croteau Staley. Allan was raised and attended schools in Michigan. He then served in the United States Army for years. After his honorable discharge he moved to California and went to work for the United States Postal Service.

Allan was united in marriage to Gaynell Dorothy O’Malley on June 29, 1963 in Las Vegas. They lived in Long Beach, Calif., until moving to Hermiston in 1984. Allan worked as the Postal Warehouse Manager at the Umatilla Army Depot until he retired in 1994. They moved to Payson, Ariz., and after Gaynell passed away he returned to Hermiston in 2004 where he has lived since. Allan was a member of the Hermiston Eagles Lodge #2909 and former member of the VFW. He enjoyed playing poker, keno, visiting with friends, playing golf, telling jokes, and was an avid Raider’s football fan.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Mesteth, Hermiston; son, Jay Staley, Texas; brother, Bob Staley, California; sisters, Joan Miller, Utah, and Ann Faulman, California; and six grandchildren, Robin, Mike, Beau, Jesse, Kricket, and Austin.

Allan was preceded in death by his wife; and his parents.

A funeral service with military honors will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 1 p.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston.

Private family burial will be held at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park in Payson, Ariz
