Paul E. Nettland Jr. died on Jan. 21, 2016 at his home in Hermiston at the age of 78.

He was born on April 17, 1937 in Richland Center, Wisc., to Paul and Esther Ewers Nettland. Paul was raised in Wisconsin and after graduating high school he attended Hinsdale College in Chicago, graduating as an anesthetist. He served in the United States Air Force until his honorable discharge. Paul worked in Montana, Madras, and then Prineville. In 1993 he moved to Hermiston and worked at Good Shepherd Medical Center until retiring in 2006. Paul was united in marriage to Jacki Yancey on October 7, 2002 in Reno, Nev. He attended Victory Baptist Church in Hermiston. Paul was a railroad buff, enjoyed fly fishing, his cat “Lucky”, and celebrated his Norwegian heritage – always willing to share his latest Norwegian joke.

He is survived by his wife, Jacki Yancey, Hermiston, OR; son: Paul Nettland III & his wife Sandra, Salem, OR; daughter: Kristen Harder & husband Jon, Bend, OR; step children: Lindsey Lambert & husband JD, Pendleton, OR, and Thomas Ramsey, Waldport, OR; grandchildren: Paige, Matthew, Macleay, Payton, Tatum, & Alden.

Paul was preceded in death by her parents.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 at noon at Victory Baptist Church 193 E. Main St., Hermiston.
