Travelers moving along U.S. 730 in northern Umatilla County will get a reprieve from the nighttime paving that had been occurring between Southshore Drive west of Umatilla and McNary.

The Oregon Department of Transportation said the project has been put on temporary hold. Temporary striping will be applied to those areas that received new asphalt and the road work signs will be covered. The contractor is scheduled to return and finish the paving work in the September or October timeframe.

Travelers are reminded to continue to drive with extra caution through all work zones and watch for paving activities gearing back up along U.S. 730 in a few months.
