Maynard A. Blum died on March 16, 2017 in Hermiston at the age of 78.

He was born Feb. 17, 1939 in Tillamook to Floyd and Nina Birch Blum. He was raised in Sand Lake and attended school in Cloverdale. He served in the United States Navy from 1956 until his honorable discharge in 1959.

He was united in marriage to Janet Gilley on March 31, 1962 in Tillamook. He worked in logging until 1967 when he was injured and was forced to retire. He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, clamming, and crabbing.

He is survived by his daughter, Kim (Don) Benson of Irrigon; brother, Forrest Blum of Sand Lake; sister, Charlotte McCommon of Oregon City; grandchildren: Erin, Nick, and Chris; and great granddaughter, Brielle.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Blum; his parents; his son, Ty Blum; his brother, Earl Blum; and a sister, Shirley Reding.

At his request, there will be no service.
