Mass Shootings Take Place at Oregon College Campus

The FBI’s Portland Division is responding to the active shooter incident this morning at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg.

Early information indicates as many as seven people were killed and more than 20 others injured in a shooting at Oregon’s Umpqua Community College on Thursday, said Oregon State Police spokesman Bill Fugate.

Roseburg is a city of about 22,000 people located about 70 miles south of Eugene. Agents and specialty personnel are responding from the FBI offices in Medford, Eugene, Salem and Portland.

The campus was reportedly on lockdown at 10:45 a.m. The shooter was killed in an exchange of gunfire with law enforecement.

Congressman Greg Walden (R-Hood River) issued the following statement:

“Today’s news out of Roseburg is heartbreaking. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of this terrible tragedy, their families, and the entire community. Oregon and the entire nation mourn this senseless loss.”
