A story in Willamette Week has a different perspective on wolves and Oregonians.

In a piece called The Howling posted today by Jordan Green, he writes about an Enterprise couple who run a bed-and-breakfast in the Wallowa Mountains. Rob Klavins not only runs the bed-and-breakfast with his wife, Emily, but he also works for Oregon Wild, an organization dedicated to defending wolves.

For his efforts, Klavins has been subject to some harassment. Green writes that Klavins was the first to appear on a “hall of shame” list put together by the hunting group, Oregon Outdoor Council, and he’s received threatening Facebook posts.

But that isn’t stopping Klavins for speaking out in defense of wolves in Oregon.

“Why is Rob Klavins the wolf guy? Because there isn’t a campaign against bald eagles,” he said.

Green’s in-depth story looks at both sides of the wolf debate, while giving Klavins plenty of opportunity to explain what is clearly an unpopular view of wolves.
