The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office conducted enhanced patrols immediately before and after the Super Bowl on Sunday, making a total of eight contacts and one DUII arrest.

“The primary intent of these DUII/High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) events is to increase our presence in the community, and to prevent deaths from impaired drivers,” said Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Joshua Roberts. “The deputies of the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office are trained to recognize the signs of persons who are not only impaired by alcohol, but also by legal and illegal drugs, including prescriptions.

These events are funded through a grant from the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association. The next DUII/HVE event is scheduled for St. Patrick’s Day on March 17.

Please continue to report suspected drunk drivers by calling 541‐966‐3650, or 911 if it appears to be an emergency.
