This past week marked the start of the last semester for the 2015-2016 school year for Hermiston High School! Time has flown! However, HHS is moving on and the calendar is overflowing with events of the past and events that are yet to come. Here is a few of the deadlines and occasions occurring for our Bulldogs.

Chess Club Event – On Friday, April 1, the Chess Club hosted a community event in the Hermiston High School Library for an evening of pizza, chess, and fun. People of all ages were encouraged to attend in order to learn how to play or simply just to compete in the strategic game that inspired the club. It ran from 4-6 p.m. and was met with much success.

College Fair – The College Fair was held in the HHS commons on March 31st from 6 to 8 p.m. The school invited many college representatives to come and fill in curious students about their school and the benefits of attending; any and all students who were present had the chance of winning prizes.

SAT – The deadline for the next SAT is April 8th. The SATs are very important for college acceptance and it is highly encouraged that juniors specifically pay close attention to dates for ACT and SAT testing in order to be prepared for the college applications they will be filling in shortly.

Link Crew – Applications for Link Crew are starting up! The Link Crew is an organization that Hermiston High School just incorporated to help incoming freshmen adapt to the different challenges that come with being a high schooler. Sophomores and juniors can apply; juniors who are already in Link Crew must re-apply to continue being in the club next year. Also a member, any time spent as a Link Crew Leader counts as community service, which looks great on a college or scholarship application.

National Guard Event – Virtual Battefield training took place at the Hermiston Armory last Wednesday, March 30th from 4-8 p.m. Sophomores the age of 16 and any student older were welcome to attend and get their game face on! The event was hosted by the Oregon National Guard.

Discover Your Future – Eastern Oregon University is having a “Discover Your Future” event! Sign up by April 8th in order to be able to attend; the actual experience will occur on April 21st.
