The Hermiston Warming Station for the homeless in Hermiston plans to be open on Nov. 1 and is currently seeking volunteers.

The mission of the warming station is to make sure homeless people in Hermiston have a safe, warm place to stay indoors during winter nights when the temperature hits 32 degrees or colder. The station runs from November through March.

“Volunteering at the warming station is one of the most rewarding and awesome things that I have ever done, and I wish for everyone to have the opportunity to have that wonderful experience,” said Carol Johnson, chairwoman of the Hermiston Warming Station board of directors.

To volunteer, a person only has to be at least 18 years old, able to pass a background check, and willing to serve. Below are some upcoming volunteer training dates and times.
