WSP Says Hermiston Man Was Responsible for Head-On Crash

A Hermiston man is on the hook for a head-on crash Sunday, Dec. 24, near Pasco that landed him and the other driver in a hospital.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Esteban Francisco Diego, 26, of Hermiston, was driving south in the northbound lanes of Highway 395 near milepost 19 when his gray 2004 Honda Accord collided head-on with a white 2023 Mazda CX-5 sports utility vehicle.

Ambulances took Diego to Kadlec Regional Medical Center, Richland, and Angelica M. Garcia, 37, of Kennewick, the driver of the Mazda, to Lourdes Health, Pasco.

WSP reported the crash totaled both vehicles, and Diego faces criminal counts of driving under the influence, driving the wrong way and driving in the dark without headlights.
