Mardean Rae Patton of Umatilla passed away in Hermiston on May 11, 2024 at the age of 85.
She was born on Nov. 8, 1938 in Renton, Wash. to Raymond and Mable Cool Tachell.
Mardean moved to Wallace, Idaho as a child, where she attended school and graduated from high school. After high school she moved to Eastern Oregon, where she met Edward Patton. The couple were united in marriage in Wallace, Idaho on May 25, 1958.
Mardean moved to Ione in 1958, where she would resided for the next 40 years. She later moved to Irrigon, where she lived for over 10 years. She had lived in Umatilla for the past 10 years. Mardean worked as a bank manager for Bank of Eastern Oregon in Ione. She later worked as the bank manager in Boardman and Irrigon for many years until retiring.
Mardean loved working in her yard and garden, where she enjoyed growing flowers and remodeling and renovating her home. She also enjoyed going camping and fishing and spending time with her family.
She is survived by daughters, Debora (Wade) Aylett and Brenda (Mike) Coombs; sons, Mark (Taranna) Patton and Tim Patton; 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Tachell; and many extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward in 2012. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Pamela Bailey.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at the Ione Cemetery.
A celebration of life will follow at Mark and Tarrana Patton’s home, 510 E. Second St., Ione.
Family suggests memorial contributions in Mardean’s memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at stjude.org.
