For the second year in a row, a Hermiston High School student has won the National Horatio Alger Scholarship.

The Hermiston School District announced that HHS junior Robert Bartman has received the scholarship this spring.

The National Horatio Alger Scholarship is awarded annually to just 105 high school juniors nationwide. It provides $25,000 over four years of college and a year-long College Success
Program during the senior year to prepare scholars for the transition to college. This scholarship is a lifeline for students with critical financial needs who have shown integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity.

HHS senior Andrea Sanchez Garavito was recognized as a 2023 Horatio Alger Scholar
last year.

Applications for the next cycle of the Horatio Alger Scholarship will be available from Dec. 1, 2024, to March 15, 2025. Students entering their junior year of high school in the fall of 2024 are encouraged to apply online.
