The Pendleton Fire & Ambulance Department is the recipient of a $28,879.91 grant from the Wildhorse Foundation.
The grant funding will allow the department to purchase a LUCAS device, significantly enhancing its ability to provide life-saving care to the community.
The LUCAS device is a state-of-the-art mechanical chest compression system that delivers consistent, high-quality chest compressions to sudden cardiac arrest patients. This technology ensures uninterrupted compressions, improving blood flow to the heart and brain and significantly increasing the chances of survival during cardiac arrest emergencies.
“We are immensely thankful to the Wildhorse Foundation for this critical grant,” said Fire Chief Tony Pierotti. “The LUCAS device will be a transformative addition to our emergency response toolkit, allowing us to deliver the best possible care to our community members in their most urgent moments of need.”
In 2023, Pendleton Fire & Ambulance responded to more than 4,200 calls for service, covering an extensive area of 1,800 square miles in Umatilla County.
