The National Weather Service in Pendleton has issued a wind advisory for the region that is in effect now until 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5.

The weather service is forecasting west winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph  in the Foothills of the Blue Mountains of Oregon and Washington, Lower Columbia Basin of Oregon and Washington, and North Central Oregon.

Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Brief gusts to 60 mph or sustained winds to 40 mph may briefly be possible, particularly with the initial round of winds this afternoon, but widespread speeds/gusts should remain below high wind warning levels. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
