Eddie Olson Passes Away at 89

Edgar Clyde “Eddie” Olson, a longtime resident of Heppner, passed away on Sept. 29 at Pioneer Memorial Hospital at the age of 89 with his daughters by his side.

Eddie was born on June 21, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa the youngest son of Marion and Ida Olson. He graduated from Heppner High School in 1957. He worked for many years at the Umatilla Army Depot and as a carpenter, and then worked and retired from the Kinzua plywood plant.

Eddie loved Heppner and lived there most of his life. He was also an avid outdoorsman and loved bowling.

He is survived by Lorrie and Fritz Flowers and Susy McBride of La Grande; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; two sisters; and infant daughter.

A graveside service and interment will be held at the Heppner Masonic Cemetery on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 3 p.m., Pastor Tripp Finch officiating.
