The Tour of Knowledge will be visiting Phase II of the Umatilla Project Water Exchange program at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9.
The exchange program pumps water from the Columbia River to Cold Springs Reservoir for the Stanfield Irrigation District. Tuesday’s tour will start with a slide presentation at the Hermiston Bureau of Reclamation office. Following the slide show, the tour will head out to the Columbia River pumping station and follow the water as it navigates the system.
The tour is part of a series of “water tours” offered for free by the Tour of Knowledge.
The Tour of Knowledge partners with the West Umatilla County chapter of the League of Women Voters. Anyone interested in take the tour on Tuesday should meet at the Hermiston Bureau of Reclamation office, 32871 Diagonal Road at 4 p.m.
