Dance Seeks Donations
May 17th is the date of the 10th annual Me And My Prince Ball in Hermiston. Organizers are seeking donations to help with the event's expenses.

When the doors at the Hermiston Conference Center open for the Me and My Prince Ball on May 17, it will be the 10th year local members of Girl Scouts of Oregon and Southwest Washington have hosted the event.

“It’s hard to believe it has been a decade since the first ball,” said committee member Michelle Kane. “We have been able to make each year unique for those who attend year after year. We don’t tend to disappoint this time around.”

The formal/semi-formal event is a community service GSOSW provides with the intent of building special memories for fathers and daughters. The price of admission remains at $15 per person, the same as it was the very first year. They are able to keep the cost down due to the generosity of the community.

The Me and My Prince Ball Committee is seeking contributions for this year’s event, which is open to girls of all ages and their fathers/father figures. Monetary donations will be used to cover such expenses as site rental, refreshments, photography and decorations.

This year’s theme is an evening garden party. “Each girl will receive a corsage and 5×7 portrait of her with her ‘date,’ and the dads will get boutonnieres,” said Kane.

Businesses and individuals who donate $25 or more by March 14 are guaranteed to be mentioned on all promotional materials, including posters, fliers and tickets. Three levels of sponsorship are available and some include complementary admission to the dance. As always, donations are tax deductible.

In-kind donations are also welcome. Guests will have the opportunity to win door prizes a couple of times during the evening.

“Since this is our 10th anniversary, we would like to send every girl home with a goody bag of little treats, like tokens for a free dessert at a local restaurant or other small promotional items businesses may like to add,” Kane said. “We expect 300 or more girls to attend this year. It’s an excellent opportunity to promote a business.”

Both monetary and in-kind contributors will be posted on a sponsor board at the event.

Checks should be made out “Girl Scouts” and mailed to: GSOSW, Attn: Me and My Prince Ball, P.O. Box 1346, Hermiston OR 97838.
