Bruce Winker, Longtime Electrician, Dies at Age 57

Bruce E. Winker died on Jan. 22, 2014 at his home in Hermiston at the age of 57.

He was born on June 27, 1956 in Lewistown, Mont. Bruce was raised by his aunt and uncle, Irene and Orin Coleman in Lewiston, Idaho from the age of 4. He attended schools in Lewiston, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1975. Bruce moved to Hermiston a short time later and went to work for Lamb Weston. He has worked for Lamb Weston (ConAgra Foods) for 39 years as an electrician.

Bruce married Leslie Rada on Feb. 15, 1986 in Reno, Nevada. He was a member of the Hermiston Eagles Lodge 2909, Hermiston Elks Lodge 1845, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, North American Hunting Club, and was active in the Boy Scouts. Bruce enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, the outdoors, tinkering, and cherished time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Leslie Winker; sons, Tyson Winker, Boardman, Bruce Winker, Nampa, Idaho, and Cory Winker, Hermiston; daughter, Kelly McDaniel, Pendleton; brothers, William Winker, Lewiston, Idaho, and Robert Winker, Post Falls, Idaho; sister, Virginia “Ginger” Holinka and her husband, Joe, Haymarket, Virg.; nine grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Minniebell Hawthorne; and a brother, Bradley Winker.

A celebration of life service was held on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at the Hermiston Eagles Lodge.
