Hermiston Resident Dennis McNamee Dies at Age 67

Dennis (Denny) Daniel McNamee, of Hermiston died peacefully at home Wednesday, May 28, 2014. He was 67.

Denny was born on July 30, 1946 in Portland to Daniel and Genevieve McNamee. He graduated from North Catholic High School in 1964. In 1968 he married the love of his life Katherine Humphries and together they had 3 children.

Denny worked in Agriculture/Produce industry for over 30 years. He displayed high integrity, a tireless work ethic and great attention to detail. During his career he developed numerous long lasting relationships and friendships, which he believed to be his greatest success. He retired from Botsford & Goodfellow Inc., in 2000.

Denny enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting and the outdoors. He had a passion for classic cars (Hot Rods) and enjoyed building his collection over the years.

Denny is survived by his wife Katherine McNamee of 46 years, his son and daughter in-law, Chris and Abby McNamee of Sherwood, Oregon; Son and daughter in-law, Darren and Jaycie McNamee of Hermiston, Oregon; daughter and son in-law, Kelly and Josh Akin of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren Teagan and Keira of Sherwood Oregon; Carsen, Chloe, Leyton and Elle of Hermiston, Oregon; Max and Maggie Akin of Portland, Oregon; brothers and sisters, Virginia Blair, Tom McNamee, Carol Chaney, Mary Lou Maxwell, Patty Keizer, George McNamee, Paul McNamee, Joe McNamee and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Denny was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Joseph McNamee; mothers, Genevieve and Jeanette McNamee; brother, Michael McNamee; sister, Sharon Matsumoto and grandson, Ethan McNamee.

Denny’s kind heart, love for family and friends were an inspiration to his family. He lived his life with love, integrity, passion and bravery. He will be greatly missed!

A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston at 1 p.m., Saturday June 7,, followed by a reception at John and Marge Walchli’s Farm.
