Kathryn Hartley Cash
Kathryn “Kathy” Hartley Cash passed away peacefully on June 5, 2014 at her home in Hermiston at the age of 61 after a 5 year battle with cancer.

She was born on June 23, 1952 in Daytona Beach, Florida to Arthur and Sylvia Sawyer Hartley. She graduated from Mainland Sr. High School in Daytona Beach, Florida in the class of 1970. Kathy was united in marriage to L. Roger Cash on September 22, 1973 in Holly Hill, Florida. They moved to Oregon in 1981 where they have lived since. Kathy worked in the medical field for more than 40 years.

She became the office manager of the Boardman Health Care Facility for Dr. Ray Lobb. She worked there until she became the office manager for the old Good Shepherd Hospital located on Orchard Avenue. She remained there through the move to the new location. Kathy left 2 years later when she was asked by the Morrow County Medical Board to return to Boardman and manage the Boardman Clinic. She worked there for Dr. Robert Boss for many years.

Feeling a need for change, Kathy went to work for doctors, Douglas Flaiz, Deo Fisher, Guy Oltman, and Stewart Swena at their office on Orchard Avenue in Hermiston, OR. She was instrumental in getting the clinic moved to their new office at the Good Shepherd Medical Center where Dr. Derek Earl joined the practice. Kathy continued working for Family Health Associates until retiring due to her medical condition. This was something that she did not take lightly because she enjoyed her job and the ability to help others. Kathy enjoyed crafting, with angels being her favorite thing to craft and design. She also enjoyed horseback riding and was a 4-H leader in Boardman for a couple of years. Kathy had a passion for weightlifting, and holds 11 Oregon State records in four different federations.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years: Roger Cash, Hermiston, OR; son: Jason Cash & wife Heather, Stanfield, OR; daughter: Shawna Staal, Indianapolis, IN; brother: Dennis Hartley & wife Bobbie, New Smyrna Beach, FL; sister: Sherry Jabluszewski & husband Jim, Ormond Beach, FL; brother-in-law & sister-in-law: Barry & Elaine Thompson, Port Orange, FL; grandchildren: Kayla Carabba, Ashley Lopton, & Amanda Staal; step-grandchildren: Ellan Hampton & Anthony “TJ” Kestler; a great grandson: Tommy Carabba.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and a younger brother, Todd Hartley.

Kathy was a kind hearted person that loved family and friends. Her approach to life was to give it her all, whether it was family, work, or hobbies. She put true meaning to the saying, “anything worth doing is worth doing well.”

Those who wish may make contributions in Kathy’s memory to the Vange John Memorial Hospice at 645 W. Orchard Ave. Suite 300, Hermiston, OR 97838.

A private family gathering will be held.
