Walden to Take Part in Ag Forum in Pendleton

U.S. Rep. Greg Walden (R-Hood River) will be in Eastern Oregon on Monday, Oct. 20 for meetings on forestry and agriculture.

In La Grande, Walden and U.S. Forest Service Region 6 Forester Jim Peña will hold a forestry issues summit to discuss the management practices needed to create rural jobs, maintain access, and restore forest health. Participants will also discuss mining, timber, recreation, grazing, and collaboratives. Panelists include Tom Insko (Boise Cascade), Larry Cribbs (Eastern Oregon ATV Association), Mark Davidson (Union County Commissioner), Jan Alexander (Eastern Oregon Mining Association), Vernita Ediger (Blue Mountains Forest Partners), and Todd Nash (Oregon Cattlemen’s Association).

In Pendleton, Walden will meet with local wheat farmers at a forum at 3:15 p.m. organized by the Umatilla County Wheat Growers. Walden will discuss new regulations from the EPA that could impact farmers in Eastern Oregon, as well as ways to boost exports to promote Oregon’s agriculture.

The meeting will take place in the Pendleton Room at Hamley & Co., 30 S.E. Court St.
