David Michael “Mike” Jones died on Nov. 25, 2014 at his home in Stanfield at the age of 72.

He was born on Oct. 30, 1942 in Bend to Fred and Alaine Vinson Jones. Mike was raised and attended school in Bend, graduating in 1961. He then joined the United States Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1967. Mike returned to Bend and later lived in the Hermiston area before living on Buttercreek for 6 years. He then moved to Stanfield in 2002 where he has lived since. Mike was united in marriage to Loretta Bodak Brunette on July 23, 2010 in Hermiston. He worked for many years as a fishing guide on the Columbia, Snake River, and in Alaska. He was a member of the American Legion and the Stanfield Moose Lodge. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing, cooking, giving to others, traveling, going to the beach, and was a great storyteller.

He is survived by his wife: Loretta Brunette Jones, Stanfield, OR; daughter: Michele Clements (Joel), Bend, OR; step daughters: Barbara Swan (Steve), Hermiston, OR, & Traci Polhemus, West Richland, WA; step sons: Steven Brunette, Richland, WA & Martin Brunette, Pendleton, OR; brother: Rich Smith (Kathy), Bend, OR; 10 grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Sandy.

Services are pending.
