After winning the Walla Walla Community College Rodeo March 13-15, the Blue Mountain Community College (BMCC) men’s and women’s rodeo teams are currently sitting high on the national standings in the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association.

The men’s team is currently third in the nation, while the women’s team is eighth. Both are currently sitting in the No. 1 spot in the Northwest Region standings. No other Oregon community college team currently sits in the national rankings.

BMCC also has individuals in the Top 25 All-Around National rankings, with Chase Hansen, Clayton Hansen, and Jared Parke in the men’s all-around. Parke and Hansen are also in the Top 25 for tie down roping, while Hansen and Jordan Tye are in the Top 25 for team roping header and Hansen and Austin Thompson are in the Top 25 for team roping heeler.

Chase and Hansen, followed by Parke, lead the Northwest Region in the all-around standings.

At the Walla Walla rodeo last week, Thompson and Michael Wade lead the team in the men’s all-around, (Parke placed fourth and Tyler Potter sixth), and Danyelle Jo Williams, Makenzie Fuller and Madison Pendergrass placed second, third and fourth, respectively, in the women’s all-around.

BMCC has competed in four rodeos so far this season, and will have three more double-header weekends, concluding May 1-2 in Hermiston with the BMCC-hosted rodeo.
