A Hermiston man was arrested in connection with what the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office is calling a “major farm theft case” in Hermiston.

The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Hermiston Police Department, arrested Nolan Douglas McClatchy, 48, of Hermiston, on Friday after he was allegedly found in possession of a valuable, stolen generator and trailer.

On Tuesday, Sept. 29, M&M Potato reported that the generator and trailer, worth an estimated value of approximately $50,000, were stolen from their facility in Hermiston. On Friday morning, McClatchy was driving the generator on a trailer with his vehicle, and was spotted near the area of Baxter Road and Rivera Lane in Hermiston.

An officer with the Hermiston Police Department detained McClatchy, who had an outstanding arrest warrant at a residence on Rivera Lane. At the Rivera Lane property, the officers identified a stolen pickup truck from the Walla Walla area, which is associated with McClatchy. They also located the trailer that was stolen with the generator during a search warrant at McClatchy’s residence, 79602 Brown Lane in Hermiston.

McClatchy was lodged at the Umatilla County Jail on charges of first-degree aggravated theft by receiving and a parole violation.

The sheriff’s office said the case is under further investigation and more charges are anticipated.
