October’s mild weather will turn into a wet, windy weekend for much of Eastern Oregon, according to the National Weather Service.

A surge of moisture is expected to impact the Inland Northwest and Lower Columbia Basin beginning Friday. Although rain is in the forecast for Wednesday, the system moving in on Friday is expected to produce much more rainfall, perhaps as a much as a couple of inches near the Cascade Crest.

By Friday and Saturday, strong winds will be felt that could make for a challenging night of trick-or-treating. The peak wind speeds aren’t expected during normal trick-or-treat hours, but the National Weather Service expects winds to reach as high as 20 to 30 miles per hour Saturday evening.
