Hermiston’s Billy Fender Passes Away at 81

Billy N. Fender died on April 7, 2017 in Hermiston at the age of 81.

He was born on April 4, 1936 in Flag Pond, Tenn.

He was raised and attended schools in Flag Pond, Tenn. He joined the United States Army and served until his honorable discharge. He worked in logging for 10 years before becoming a barber in 1968. He moved to the Hermiston area in 1978 and first worked in Umatilla for several years before working in Hermiston, until he retired. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his son, Ray Fender, and daughter, Molly Fender, both of Estacada; grandchildren, Angela, Shana, Nicole, Ginger, and Anthony and his wife Ashley; and numerous great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service with military honors will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 2 p.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery.
