Charlotte Gooding of Hermiston Passes Away at 84

Charlotte V. Gooding died on July 22, 2017 at her home in Hermiston at the age of 84.

She was born on May 1, 1933 in Lostine the 14th and youngest child of John and Nettie Lightle Holloway.

She spent her early years in Flora before living in San Francisco, Calif. and then in Pendleton. She married Charles E. “Chuck” Gooding on July 31, 1949 in Pendleton. They spent most of their years in Hermiston, where Charlotte was mostly a stay-at-home mom, raising their children. She was an incredible seamstress who enjoyed being a homemaker, traveling, playing pinochle, dancing and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters, Darla (Bob) Taylor, Othello, Wash., Rhonda (Steve) Campbell, Pendleton, and Tammi Williams, Hermiston; grandchildren, Traci, Thad, Marty, Tygh, Ben, Seth and Drew; 12 great grandchildren; a great-great grandson; sister, Joan Edwards, Clarkston, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 66 years; son, Timmy; grandson, Tyler Campbell; and 12 siblings.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 31, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Hermiston Cemetery.

A celebration of life gathering will follow at the Maxwell Siding Event Center, 145 N. First Place, Hermiston (behind Nookie’s Restaurant).
