The public is invited to a special opening reception for the Blue Mountain Community College Student Art Show on Monday, May 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Betty Feves Memorial Art Gallery.

This Student Art Show is the final show of the 2017-18 academic year in the Feves Gallery before it closes for the summer. The reception is free, family-friendly and open to the public.

This annual exhibit highlights the work and talents of students at BMCC, and includes a variety of two- and three-dimensional pieces, including drawings, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and photography. Awards are presented to Best of Show, first, second and third place, as well as honorable mention. This year’s judge is Judith Baumann, the Master Printer at Crow’s Shadow Institute of the Arts in Pendleton. She has a master of fine arts in print media from Virginia Commonwealth University and a bachelor of fine arts from Alfred University NYSCC School of Art + Design. In addition to the judge’s awards, Gallery visitors will have the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice Award.

The Student Art Show runs from May 14-31. The Betty Feves Memorial Art Gallery is open Monday-Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and by appointment by calling 541-278-5952. The Feves Gallery is located in Pioneer Hall on the BMCC Pendleton campus, 2411 NW Carden Ave. The Gallery is a non-profit exhibit space connecting emerging and established artists and their work with students, staff and the general public in Eastern Oregon.
