Jeanne King Passes Away at 81

M. Jeanne King died on May 27, 2018 at her home in Boardman at the age of 81.

She was born on Oct. 1, 1936 in Virginia City, Nev.

Jeanne was raised and attended school in Coquille, graduating in 1955. She was united in marriage to Neil King on Jan. 1, 1955 in Myrtle Point. They lived on the southern Oregon coast until moving to Portland in 1966. They later settled in Boardman in 1970, where they have called home since. She spent most of the years as a stay-at-home mom, grandma and great grandma, although she did work at the C & D Restaurant for a time.

She was a member of New Hope Community Church. Jeanne enjoyed crafting, flowers, her chickens, traveling and cherished time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Neil King, Boardman; daughters, Martha Leader and her husband Butch, Milwaukie; Cynthia Whitney and her husband Stephen, Wenatchee, Wash.; and Leora Svatonsky and her husband Alan, Irrigon; sister, Mary Jane Herold, Coos Bay; grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy, Dustin (Nikki), Corey, Ben (Jessica), Rachel (Brad), Timothy (Laura), Daniel and Ciara; and 10 great grandchildren, with one on the way.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her son, Randy King in 2005; her parents; and a brother, James Brewster.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at 2 p.m. at New Hope Community Church, 1350 S. Highway 395, Hermiston.

A family burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.
