Nick McLachlan Passes Away at 75

Jon “Nick” McLachlan of Boardman passed away on Nov. 23, 2018 in Richland, Wash. at the age of 75.

He was born on Nov. 10, 1943 in Salem to John and Mary Eaton McLachlan.

Nick grew up and attended school in Portland, graduating from Benson Tech High School. After high school he began working in the shipyards, which was the start of his career with the boilermakers union. In the early 1980s, he worked a job in Boardman on the coal fire plant which led to his moving to Boardman in 1985. He worked as a welder with the boilermakers union until retiring in 2015.

Nick enjoyed hunting and fishing, looking after his cows and his home and visiting with his neighbors, and was a past member of the Eagles Lodge in Hermiston.

Nick married Susan Stanhope in Boardman on Oct. 16, 2013.

He is survived by his wife, Susan; children, Todd, Nick, Johnny, Bryan, Dee and Dawn; several grandchildren; one great grandchild; and sister, Debbie.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018 at 1 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery near Boardman.

Family suggests memorial donations to the Morrow County FFA in his memory.
