Everyone loves a snow day – until the bill comes due.
The Hermiston School Board voted Monday night to push back the last day of school for students by two days and three days for district staff.
The February snow storms caused the district to cancel school more than it had expected, despite having several snow days built in to the school calendar. With Monday’s school board vote, the last day of school for students will be Thursday, June 13, while staff’s last day will be June 14.
The new schedule will not affect graduation, which is scheduled for Thursday, June 6 at Kennewick’s Toyota Center.
