An Irrigon man was arrested and jailed on drug-related and other charges following a short vehicle and foot chase.
Capt. Travis Eynon of the Hermiston Police Department said Corporal Leonard Stokoe attempted to make a traffic stop on Saturday evening when the vehicle in question fled west on W. Linda Avenue.
Eynon said the vehicle came to a stop and the driver, Jose Diaz, 63, fled on foot, but tripped after about 150 yards and was “easily captured” by Stokoe.
His vehicle was impounded and Eynon said what is suspected to be methamphetamine was found in side.
Diaz was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, eluding police in a vehicle and on foot, as well as a probation violation warrant and a failure to appear warrant.
