No one was injured Monday when a house in the Hermiston area was struck by a drive-by shooting – the second drive-by shooting in the area in two days, according to the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO).
The sheriff’s office released a press release Tuesday evening seeking public assistance in identifying individuals involved in the two separate shooting incidents.
The first occurred on Sunday, July 5, near S.W. 23rd Street and West Highland Avenue, just outside the city limits of Hermiston, where deputies responded to a report of shots fired. At least three vehicles are believed to have been involved, according to the UCSO.
There were no known injuries.
Tuesday’s press release said the shooters were described as Hispanic males, ages estimated between 20 and 30. The vehicles involved were described as a newer pearl white four-door, possibly a Mitsubishi Galant; a newer silver SUV, possibly a Nissan Pathfinder; and a black two-door Honda Civic with a “coffee can” exhaust and a broken passenger side window
The second drive-by shooting occurred on Monday at 9 p.m., on Gillespie Lane, just outside the Hermiston city limits, where deputies responded to a report of shots fired. UCSO said a single vehicle was involved, described as a light-colored, smaller four-door with no further description. A house was hit several times, but there were no known injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.
Tuesday night’s press release said it is believed the shootings were specific to the individuals involved and not random.
