Wallowa Driver Dies in Collision with Semi-Truck on Highway 37

A Wallowa man died Monday morning when his pick-up truck collided with an oncoming semi-truck on Highway 37.

Oregon State Police troopers responded just after 11 a.m., to the report of a crash near milepost 7.5. According to the OSP, a 2005 Dodge 2500 pickup, driven by Lester Estes, 60, was traveling north when it crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a Kenworth semi operated by Harold Buell, 48, of Moses Lake, Wash.

Estes sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

OSP was assisted by the Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office, Umatilla County Fire District #1 and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
