Paula Herrera Passes Away at 92

Paula Herrera died on July 6, 2021 at home in Hermiston at the age of 92.

She was born on March 7, 1929 in Guernsey, Wyo. to Selso and Bentura Lopez Rodriguez.

Paula was raised and attended schools in Wyoming. She was united in marriage to John Herrera Sr. on July 21, 1946 in Torrington, Wyo. They lived in Wyoming for a short time before moving to Sidney, Neb. and then to Hermiston in 1965. Paula worked at Lamb Weston and the Hermiston Elks Lodge for several years. She and John owned and operated J&P Mobile Home Park in Hermiston for over 30 years.

Paula was an active member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston. She enjoyed Avon, shopping, music and dancing, as well as watching The Golden Girls and Everybody Loves Raymond. Paula was a devoted wife, mom and grandma with an unwavering faith.

She is survived by her husband of nearly 75 years, John Herrera Sr., Hermiston; sons, John Jr. (Terry) Herrera, Umatilla, Ray Herrera, Salem and Angelo (Debbie) Herrera, Hermiston; daughter, Betty Lewter, Hermiston; sister, Lorenza Rodriguez, Kansas City, Mo.; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paula was preceded in death by her grandson, Timothy Herrera; son-in-law, Larry Lewter; her parents; two brothers; and three sisters.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 2:30 p.m., with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, Hermiston.

Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.
