Warren William “Bill” Pemberton died at home on Sept. 9, 2021 while on hospice at the age of 87.

He was born in San Francisco, Calif. on April 13, 1934 to Marian “Evy” Smith and Warren “Bud” Pemberton.

He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Pittsburgh, and later settled down to marry Elizabeth Beauclair in Redding, Calif. In California, he worked in the computer department at Stanford University while he started his family. He enjoyed being a certified scuba diver, playing softball, and coaching his children in Little League Baseball. Wanting to be closer to his father in Oregon, Bill and Beth made the move to Oregon and remained to raise their six children.

He was a member of Kinzua Lumbermen’s Union, as well as an operating engineer with Local Union 701. As someone with a wide skill set, Bill was known for his various inventions and product fabrications, and took pride in owning his own trucking business.

After a full life, he retired to Arlington to enjoy his family and pursue his interests of camping, boating and scuba diving.

Bill is survived by his wife of 65 years, Beth; son Bill Jr.; son Don; son JJ; daughter, Ginger; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by daughter Patty and son Mike.

The family would like to thank Pioneer Hospice of Heppner for their support and services.
