Angel Marie Smith of Hermiston passed away in Hermiston on Feb. 19, 2022 at the age of 76.
She was born on May 24, 1945 in Seattle, Wash. to Thomas and Dorothy Betts Muilenburg.
As a child, Angel moved with her family to the Columbia Gorge area of Oregon and attended schools in Hood River and The Dalles. She moved to Hermiston in the mid-1960s, where she resided for over 55 years. She worked throughout her career as a cook in the Hermiston and Irrigon school districts. She retired after 30 years on June 1, 2000.
Angel was actively involved with the Elks Emblem Club for many years. She enjoyed decorating cakes, camping, square dancing, going on cruises, playing bingo and going to casinos. She loved spending her time with her children and grandchildren and loved her dogs.
Angel married Walter E. Hoffman in Echo on July 3, 1964, and from this union three children were born: Mike, Danette and Janelle. The couple divorced many years later. Angel later married Vernon C. Smith in Elko, Nev. on Nov. 5, 1991.
She is survived by her husband, Vernon; son, Mike and wife Rina Hoffman; daughters, Danette and husband Mike Voytko and Janelle and husband Gordon Baher; seven grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a brother, Dennis and wife Kay Muilenburg; and many extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25, 2022 at the Burns Mortuary Chapel, 685 W. Hermiston Ave.
A private family burial will be in the Hermiston Cemetery.
