Dan Aiken Passes Away at 73

Dan Aiken, 73, passed to be with the Lord on April 12, 2022 at his home in Echo.

He was born on June 11, 1948 in Pendleton to James and Louise Aiken.

Dan graduated from Hermiston High School in the class of 1968. He then served in the U.S. Army for 10 years during the Vietnam War. While serving in Vietnam, he was wounded and was awarded the purple heart. After his honorable discharge he returned to Eastern Oregon, where he worked at the Umatilla Army Depot as an equipment manager. He retired from the depot in 2003.

Dan enjoyed action movies, gardening and growing grapes. He attended Crossroads Community Church in Stanfield, where he served as deacon, taught Sunday school, and was a Royal Ranger commander for several years. He was a kind, hard-working and outgoing man. He had a lifelong dream of being a farmer.

Dan married Kristine Malarchick on Sept. 13, 1971.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kristine; daughter, Tara Aiken; son, Sean Aiken; grandson, Robert Aiken; and brothers, Charles, Dennis and Stephen Aiken. He will be loved and missed.

A memorial service will be announced at a later time.
