Regie Harold Horn passed away on March 11, 2023.
Regie was born in Lebanon on June 12, 1949 and had lived all around the state of Oregon, including Sweet Home, South Santiam Pass, New Bridge, Baker, La Grande, Enterprise and Burns.
Elgin is where he graduated from high school, then down to Klamath Falls for college and played football. After some time at college, Regie signed on and served in the Army. The highlight of his time served was while stationed in Alaska. As a sergeant, he guided a hunt for United States Army Chief of Staff Gen. W.C. Westmoreland in 1970.
Upon his return from the Army, he worked as a patrolman for Oregon State Police out of Salem. He also worked in the logging industry back in the Grande Ronde Valley until a life-altering accident in a skidder. Back in Eastern Oregon he lived in Irrigon and Hermiston, where he owned a custom alfalfa operation for many years and then later returned to his roots, working for the Department of Corrections at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution for 13 years before his retirement.
An avid outdoorsman, Regie loved being in the mountains. Over the years he hunted with his hound dogs, spent winters being a trapper, and enjoyed all types of hunting and fishing. The biggest move was at retirement when he moved to Cascade, Idaho to live in the mountains, which he loved so much. While in retirement he enjoyed woodworking and making some custom wood pieces.
Survivors include his children, Tammi Martin, Tondra (Dale) Lee, Alicia (Scott) Nevil and Brian Hight; grandsons, Ricky (Katherine) Sariol and Cutter Hight; granddaughters, Courtney (Nathaniel) Stubbs, Jennifer (Kory) Morgan, Victoria Bernardin, Micayla Martin and Kimberly (Brian) Rill; his five great-grandchildren, Lux, Kona, Adeline, Hosanna and Reagan; his sister, Harlene (Bob) Matkovich; sisters-in-law, Kathy Horn and Teresa (Steve) Hubbard; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and very dear friends.
Regie was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Tina Horn; daughter, Jennifer Horn; parents, Harold and Ethel Horn; and brothers, Mike Horn and Bill Horn.
By his request, there will be a private service in the mountains later in the year.
