Charlotte Kay Deary of Kennewick, Wash. passed away on July 28, 2023 at the age of 77 with her beloved husband of over 20 years, Ronald Deary, by her side.

Charlotte was born on March 23, 1946 in Elgin to Gladys and Milton Culp. She grew up there, graduating from Elgin High School in 1964.

After high school, Charlotte married and started her family. She worked as a cosmetologist for 25 years and eventually opened her own cosmetology school, Govan’s Beauty School, in the Tri-Cities area. She was a dedicated and versatile businesswoman, and she loved helping others to look their best.

After retiring from cosmetology, Charlotte obtained her Associate of Science degree in Medical Assisting from Yakima Community College, where she was on the President’s List. She worked as a medical assistant for many years before retiring to focus on two of her great loves, spending time with her great grandchildren and working in her garden, enchanting her neighbors who looked forward to each spring’s landscape design.

Charlotte was a creative artist and active woman who enjoyed taking dance classes with her husband, listening to music, painting china, going for scenic drives, and collecting vintage teacups.

Charlotte was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She always greeted her family and friends with her luminescent smile and a big hug.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Deary; her siblings, Phylis Martin, Dennis and wife Judy Culp, and Gary K. and wife Vicki Culp; her adult children, Greg, Colleen, and Todd Kennedy and their father, Gary A. Kennedy; her stepdaughters, Tamia and Hasina Deary; her grandchildren, Chloe and Kevin; and great-grandchildren, Amelia, Emma, Vincent, and Sophia.

Charlotte Deary was a loving and vibrant woman who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In honor of Charlotte, the family requests that donations be made in her name to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, 2700 Horizon Drive, Suite 120, King of Prussia, Pa., 19406.
