National Weather Service Issues Excessive Heat Warning

The National Weather Service out of Pendleton has issued an Excessive Heat Warming for the Lower Columbia Basin.

The warning is in effect until 11 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17.

The weather service is forecasting “dangerously hot conditions” with high temperatures ranging from 103 to 109 over the next several days.

“Extreme heat will significantly increase the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities,” the weather service said in a statement.

The high on Tuesday is expected to reach 109, followed by 107 on Wednesday and 106 on Thursday before high temperatures drop to 95 on Friday.

Beginning Saturday, Aug. 19, high temperatures should remain below 90 for the next several days.
