The Oregon chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges has honored Diane Drebin, vice president of Student Affairs at Blue Mountain Community College (BMCC) with the 2014 Campus Excellence Award.

The award is presented annually to individuals who demonstrate heartfelt caring and dedication toward their college community, and whose accomplishments make a difference for women in their community college.

Drebin, who came to BMCC in January 2014, is the first person from BMCC to win the award. She was nominated by her colleagues at BMCC.

“It is an honor to receive this award by the AAWCC,” Drebin said. “The work we do in community colleges is at the heart of who I am and being nominated for this award by my BMCC women colleagues is sincerely affirming. I am grateful to be able to do work I love and to work side by side with such good people.”

BMCC President Cam Preus said she was excited to hear of Drebin’s honor, which she said was much-deserved.

“We are so proud to see Diane receive this award as she well exemplifies the mission of AAWCC ‘to inspire, champion, and celebrate the talents within each of us’,” said Preus.
