Thanks to help from the public, the Oregon State Police (OSP) has been able to identify two juvenile males as suspects in an early-Sunday morning incident in which a cinder block was dropped from an overpass onto a passing vehicle.

The OSP received phone calls that led to identifying the two males, ages 16 and 17, as suspects in the April 13 throwing of a cinder block off an Interstate 5 overpass near Creswell that injured a female passenger.

The lead OSP investigating trooper contacted both suspects and parents at their Creswell residences. They are cooperating with the investigation and no arrests have been made. The suspects’ names and other information are not being released at this time because of the ongoing investigation. Upon conclusion of the investigation, OSP will meet with the Lane County District Attorney’s Office when potential charges will be decided.

The incident happened around 4:30 p.m. when a cinder block was dropped from an overpass onto the windshield of a 2012 Toyota Camry driven by Michael Becker. The Camry was traveling northbound on I-5 in the right lane while going under the E. Oregon Avenue overpass. The cinder block came through the windshield and struck passenger Tiffany Becker, 30, in the face causing non-life threatening injuries.

Michael Becker, 28, of Roy, Wash., was uninjured. Tiffany Becker was transported by ambulance to an area hospital and was treated and released.
