The Lewis and Clark Drive bridge project at the Port of Morrow is nearly complete, according to Port General Manager Gary Neal.

The bridge and rail extension are near Calbee North America and Tredit Tire in the port’s East Beach Industrial Park.

The project’s total cost is over $1 million. The next step following the bridge’s completion, said Neal, is adding about 7,000 feet of railroad. The extension will pass under the new bridge heading east.

The railroad improvements are funded through a $1.2 million Connect Oregon IV grant.

“It is important to continue to expand our rail capacity and our support for industries that rely on rail transportation of freight,” Neal said.

The overpass will also eliminate at-grade rail crossings and allow traffic to move without stopping for trains, he said.
