With the completion of the foundation phase wrapping up, local contractor and Northeast Oregon Homebuilder’s Association (NEOHBA) member, Findley Brothers Construction, has partnered with the student homebuilding program to mentor them through the framing component of the Fieldstone #1 home construction.

Early next week, students will begin construction of the floor joist and decking phases of the 2,000-square-foot home, followed shortly thereafter by wall, truss, and roof framing. While students are on site, Brandon Findley, co-owner of Findley Brothers, as well as other members from his firm, will mentor and guide the students through the framing process.

“At roughly two hours per day, the framing stage of the home is expected to take about a month and a half,” said Columbia Basin Student Homebuilder Program Coordinator Curt Berger. “We are delighted to partner with Brandon and his brother on this project, and they have gone out of their way to show support for this worthwhile program.”

“I have had the pleasure of stopping by and watching the students in action during the foundation phase of the project,” said Findley. “They are incredible workers and I look forward to mentoring them through the framing process.”

Over the last two weeks, students partnered with NEOHBA member Knerr Construction on the footing and foundation work. During the framing phase other partners will soon be joining the program, as students collaborate with local electricians, heating/air conditioning/mechanical experts, and plumbing specialists.
