According to a recent study of Oregon cities, Hermiston is the "happiest" city in the state.

If you see folks from Hermiston walking around with a smile on their faces, there’s a reason for it that they might not even know.

According to a study by CreditDonkey – a free credit card comparison and financial education website – Hermiston is the “happiest” city in the state of Oregon. The results were based on seven factors (available restaurants, crime rates, commute times, average departure times, incomes, divorce rates and housing).

And while Hermiston didn’t come out on top on any of the seven categories, its final tally put it on the top of the list of happiest cities in the state. Pendleton, by the way, is the sixth-happiest city in Oregon, according to CreditDonkey.

Here’s what the article has to say about Hermiston:

Highlights include the affordable housing in peaceful neighborhoods, an average drive time of 15 minutes flat and a very respectable median income. Restaurants like Hale’s and Walker’s Farm Kitchen are the icing on the happiness cake.

The other cities in the top 10 are Tualatin at No. 2, Newport at No. 3, Keizer at No. 4, Lake Oswego at No. 5, West Linn at No. 7, Canby at No. 8, St. Helens at No. 9 and Central Point at No. 10.
