Weather conditions are considered factors in a crash that took the life of a 12-year-old boy Tuesday evening on Interstate 82.

The Oregon State Police is reporting that a silver Mazda MPV, driven by Raymond Ramone Dick Shppentower, 32, of Pendleton, was westbound on I-82 near milepost 4 when the vehicle veered off the road and rolled over in the median.

A 12-year-old boy suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and two other passengers, 38-year-old Christina Marie Leyva of Pendleton and a 3-year-old girl, received minor or non-life threatening injuries. Wind and rain are being considered factors in the crash.

I-82 was restricted to one lane for three and a half hours while the investigation was being completed. The OSP was assisted by Umatilla County Fire District #1, Umatilla Fire Department, and Oregon Department of Transportation.
